antenna tower K8YSU, the station of the YSU Amateur Radio Club, is active on the High Frequency ("Short Wave") and VHF bands. Club members have contacted other "ham operators" in over 50 countries since the station went on the air in January 2001 through a very generous donation by Norm Into, K8NI.

antenna tower We are equipped for voice, Morse and computer data communications. When an improved antenna array is available, we will be able to use amateur satellites. YSUARC is looking for student members. The only requirement is an interest in radio communication. Training for the FCC license is available and of course, already licensed amateur operators are welcome.

antenna tower In addition to technical work on the equipment and on the air operation of K8YSU, special events such as simulated emergency operation in the field are planned. If you are interested, contact the faculty or technical advisors of the YSU/ARC: Gordon Frissora (FA); WB8YHD, Frank Sole (FA); KE8BOL, Thomas Madsen (FA); W8RZE, Ron Krauss (TA); or the license trustee, WB8YHD, Frank Sole (LT).

antenna tower Fox Hunt: We had a fox hunt at the end of fall quarter. Boy was it cold! The foxes were smart, they hid in a place where students fear to tread -- the library hi hi! The N8YDP team won the hunt.
